Summary of The Clift Hotel

When we first arrived at the Clift hotel and were blown away by the actual size of the building, located on the corners of Geary St and Taylor St, The Clift sure does stand out from neighbour buildings. We were greeted by hotel staff who opened the two sets of large glass doors for us which led us into the lobby. The lobby at the Clift says it all, designed by Philippe Starck you feel as if you’re in a museum with incredible pieces of furniture like the giant-sized armchair or the sofa crafted by animal horns surrounded by gat concrete walls illuminated with mood lighting and a warm fireplace. Attached to the lobby is the living room which has incredibly comfy leather sofas to give guests somewhere to sit-down relax and take in the impressive art that surrounds them. Free Tea and coffee is also served in the living room in the mornings.

The famous Redroom Bar is also adjacent to the lobby, it includes a beautifully restored wood-panelled bar which features velvet sofas and art that creates a jazz vibe. The Redroom is known by many for its amazing craft cocktails and cool art, we enjoyed a jasmine martini on arrival and were lucky enough to see the bar in action as patrons lined up to get into the bustling bar.

Leading away from the main lobby area we followed the interesting chairs and art around to the lift lobby, which also had a great vibe about it complete with intimate mood lighting. When we got to level 10 we followed the purple corridors to our room, we were greeted with some macaroons and drinks as well as a nice welcome note. We had a One Bedroom suite which offers a formal dining room, perfect for entertaining and beautifully crafted furniture including a custom king sleigh bed. It’s all open planned living with an easy flow from room to room. Leading from the living room there is a luxurious marble and chrome bathroom with deluxe toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, hand wash and moisturiser as well as hairdryers and bathrobes. Our room also had incredible views of the San Francisco city skyline.

The Clift is located in the heart of San Francisco next to union square and a short walk to Chinatown. The historic Curran Theatre is next-door as well so make sure you check to see if any shows are on. There is an abundance of fine restaurants close by and shops including most major department stores. Be sure to get our and explore this amazing city and if you need any tips the friendly staff at the Clift can help.
