SUMMARY OF Ovolo
We arrived at Ovolo Laneways and were greeted by the extremely friendly ladies at the front desk. Our check in was quick and easy, followed by a guided tour of the lobby area and its facilities. This includes an all-day snack bar with free water. There is also happy hour social club at 6pm-7pm everyday which has an amazing selection of craft beers and wines to drink there or back in your room. The hotel is inspired by Melbourneโs hidden laneways.
We then took the lift up to the top level (level 5) where our room is situated. On the 5th level there are 3 rooms which are titled OMG 1, OMG 2 and OMG 3. We are in OMG 1 which is the penthouse suite.
The penthouse suite is a 2 bedroom 2-bathroom spacious apartment. On entering our suite you walk into an enormous stunning lounge room which features 2 long couches in a sitting area with a wall mounted Flat Screen Smart TV equipped with Foxtel. There is also a pin ball machine on feature and art displayed through out on the walls. With open plan living the kitchen is attached with a huge central island bench, a double door fridge, microwave, and wine fridge. The fridge is fully stocked with soft drinks, beer, and bottles of Sauvignon Blanc and Rose respectively. In the pantry there is tea and coffee as well as 2 loot bags on the bench which are snacks to take with you! Attached to the kitchen is a cocktail making facility with a full Ovolo cocktail menu and instructions on the wall above.
Both of the bedrooms have king sized beds and walk in robes. One has an ensuite, both bathrooms include toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, hand wash and moisturiser as well as hairdryers. No hotel stay is complete without robes and matching slippers which are located in both the walk in robes. Both rooms also have flat screen Televisions mounted to the wall.
One of the luring factors of the penthouse is the stunning rooftop terrace which opens up from the kitchen area. The timber deck terrace features an outdoor dining table as well as a sitting area with beanbags and lounges overlooking the Melbourne city sky view views. These views are equally breath taking during both day and night. What makes the penthouse even more appealing is the massive Jacuzzi situated at the opposite end of the terrace.
Ovolo Laneways location in Melbourne is ideal, situated a stone throw from many different attractions and eateries. Attractions close by are Princess Theatre, House of Parliament, Comedy Theatre, Melbourne Central and Emporium Shopping Destinations. It is also only 100m walk from Chinatown which boast many amazing food options, as well as being on the same street as the acclaimed restaurant Longrain (where we chose to have dinner). Food options are endless, we only wish our stay was longer to have time to try them all!
